Voices from the World

On behalf of the Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies (IUC), Stanford University, and the thirteen other North American member universities of the IUC consortium, I would like to offer my hearty congratulations to the Toshiba International Foundation on the occasion of its 30th Anniversary. Since 1989, the Foundation has played an important role in promoting communication and mutual understanding between Japan and other countries. The Inter-University Center is deeply indebted to TIFO for its generous financial and material support over a period of more than two decades. In particular, each summer since 2014, TIFO has provided funds for four recent IUC graduates conducting doctoral research in Japan. As these twenty students go on to earn their degrees and teach Japanese Studies at North American or other universities, they will serve as ambassadors of goodwill and bridges between Japan and the rest of the world. We are grateful to TIFO for its support and look forward to many more years of cooperation in pursued of a shared vision of mutual understanding and world peace.

　The Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies (IUC) 、スタンフォード大学および他の13の北米大学のIUCコンソーシアムを代表して、東芝国際交流財団の設立30周年記念に心からお祝いの言葉を申し上げます。1989年以来、貴財団は日本と他国との間のコミュニケーションと相互理解を促進する上で重要な役割を果たしてこられました。IUCは、20年以上に渡ってTIFOから頂戴した財政的および物質的支援に対して深く感謝しています。特に、2014年以降、毎年夏には、TIFOは自主事業の一環で日本で博士課程研究を行っている4人のIUC卒業生に資金を提供してくださっています。これまでの20人の学生が北米や他の大学で学位を取得し、日本研究で教鞭を取るにつれて、彼らは日本と世界の他の国々との間の親善と架け橋の大使として活躍することでしょう。私たちはTIFOの支援に感謝し、相互理解と世界の平和という共通のビジョンを追求し、今後ともさらなる協力関係の継続を期待しております。
