Forum in Viet Nam on Economic Partnership in Asia
On 3 March 2017, Viet Nam’s Central Institute for Economic Management, a major research institute, in collaboration with the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Public Policy, hosted the Viet Nam-Japan Emerging Researchers Forum 2017. The forum addressed the theme of “Enhancing Viet Nam- Japan Industrial Cooperation to Effectively Implement the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement”, and featured an overview of the main areas of discussion about the RCEP by a representative of the Center, and reflections on the significance of the agreement from the Pan-Asian viewpoint by a leading Japanese economist. During the Q&A and discussion sessions, prominent economic analysts and university students discussed the prospects and impacts of the agreement, including its effect on Asian supply chains and Viet Nam’s domestic industries.
