10th Anniversary of Female Teacher Development Program in Nepal
In Nepal, improving primary education, especially for girls in remote, mountainous areas, is a major concern. On October 19, 2016, the tenth anniversary of Sakura Dormitory, established by the Japan Nepal Female Education Association (JNFEA), was celebrated in Pokhara, Nepal’s second city. The NPO has devoted itself to training female teachers in remote areas in Nepal for many years, primarily to bring education to girls in mountain villages. The Dormitory was built as a model, with both a Japanese-style school and dormitory, to educate future female teachers. Many graduates of Sakura Dormitory have returned to their communities as teachers, and have succeeded in producing tangible results. The President of Nepal sent a congratulatory message.
