European Association of Japanese Studies (EAJS)
Support of fellowship and PhD workshop
A TIFO-initiated program that seeks to stimulate interest in and encourage young scholars to research Japanese studies at European institutions. Every year, three PhD candidates are awarded fellowships for a three-month visit to Japan. The selection is made by the EAJS, and the fellowships aim to support and encourage the students in developing communication and information flows in their field of study, towards completion of their doctoral theses.
Workshop for Doctoral Students
This is another of TIFO’s own initiatives. In July 2016, Dr. Sebastien Lechevalier, President of the Fondation France-Japon de l’EHESS (EHESS), organized and hosted and organized the 12th EAJS PhD Workshop for Doctoral Students at EHESS, Paris. This annual workshop followed an organizational structure that has earned a highly evaluation by the EAJS Council and TIFO. It took the form of a three-day workshop, where four academic advisors, together with the local organizer, offer guidance and advice to the participating students.
