International Conference on ‘Japanese Cultural Studies outside Japan – Current Status and Future Perspectives
Nearly forty specialists and scholars from Europe, US, and Japan came together at SISJAC for this highly regarded forum on studies in Japanese arts. The agenda focused on the difficulties involved in studying Japanese art and culture outside Japan, and the discussions covered successful approaches to project development. The participation of art historians and curators who work outside Japan provided a good understanding of the current situation, and of the challenges involved in promoting studies and arranging museum exhibitions of Japanese fine arts.
