Support for the 17th EAJS International Conference in Ghent 2023

The triennial EAJS International Conference on Japanese Studies took place in August 2023 and was hosted by the University of Ghent in Belgium. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was the first face-to-face conference in six years. 1,122 scholars participated online and in person and 713 academic papers were presented and discussed. TIFO provided travel grants for 45 early career scholars to facilitate their participation in the conference. It also took this opportunity to host a networking event for EAJS/TIFO Alumni. 47 participants, among them former fellowship recipients of the last 25 years as well as participants of past annual PhD workshops, enjoyed the reunion and rekindled memories and friendships.
