Dialogue project at the Kyoto Super SDGs Future Lab at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan
The Kyoto Super SDGs Future Lab provided a platform for exploring the values that have sustained Kyoto’s culture for more than a thousand years and for reimagining sustainable societies from multiple perspectives. Through dialogues between experts, students, and visitors from around the world, the program examined Kyoto's view on nature, and traditional wisdom for daily life, such as mottainai (respect for resources) and shimatsu (using resources wisely). An accompanying exhibition, centered on the idea of wrapping and passing on cherished values through furoshiki (traditional reusable wrapping cloth), further encouraged reflection on the future. The program attracted more than 40,000 visitors.
